Politico reports:

More than 50 media organizations signed an amicus brief backing POLITICO, CNN and MS NOW in their lawsuit against President Donald Trump on Wednesday, an unusual display of solidarity across the industry in calling for the immediate reversal of his media ban.

The brief was signed by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the White House Correspondents’ Association and 49 other media organizations. That list runs the ideological gamut, from Fox News to Vox Media, and includes every major television broadcast network, The Washington Post, The Associated Press, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, among others.

The show of unity comes on the heels of a boycott of Trump’s events Monday by major television networks and photo organizations.

The brief condemned Trump’s decision to ban the three news organizations as “constitutionally repugnant” and harmful to public interest. “The administration’s reasons for doing so are transparently viewpoint discriminatory,” it said.

In a court filing Tuesday, the Trump administration described the ban as a matter of national security in order to prevent the publishing of classified information, but letters the administration purportedly sent to each outlet earlier Tuesday did not claim any of the cited stories contained classified information.
