Harris leads Trump by 5 points in Ipsos poll. Trump says he wants 3 debates in September
Democrat Kamala Harris leads Republican Donald Trump 42% to 37% in the race for the Nov. 5 U.S. presidential election, according to an Ipsos poll published on Thursday.
The poll found Harris had widened her lead since a July 22-23 Reuters/Ipsos survey, which found her up 37% to 34% over Trump.
The nationwide poll of 2,045 U.S. adults, conducted Aug. 2-7, found 4% of those surveyed backed independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., down from 10% in July.
Ipsos conducted the August poll independently from Reuters. The poll, conducted online, had a margin of error of around 3 percentage points. [Continue reading…]
Former President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would be open to debating Vice President Kamala Harris three times in September.
Speaking during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort, Trump said, “I think it’s very important to have debates,” and added that he accepted invitations from NBC News, Fox News and ABC News.
During his announcement, Trump seemingly got some of the dates incorrect. Both ABC News and the Trump campaign later clarified that the ABC News debate would take place on Sept. 10. The Fox News debate was previously proposed for Sept. 4.
A source familiar with the plans said that the NBC News one was set for Sept. 25, which was one of the options the network gave the campaigns as a date. [Continue reading…]
